July 25, 2012💜Our Purple Summer.
Exactly, 10 years ago today we opened our first production, Spring Awakening. In 2012, the name All Star Theatre came across our minds, and for those who don't know All STAR means All South Texas Artists Reunited.
All Star Theatre's Executive Director, Joel A. Garza and Marketing Director, Carlos Pérez, decided to create a new theatre organization in the Rio Grande Valley. Since then we have produced 6 summer productions with local artists, and 7 All Star Kids productions. We have created friendships, and we have helped our artists to grow and share, and engaged our audience to think and feel.
We have brought Broadway performers to teach students in our community, secured our own physical location, performed our productions in a multi-million dollar professional facility, survived a global pandemic and personal loss, welcomed thousands of young performers through our doors and have watched while they go from first graders to driving All Star students, to college attendees. And we will work to continue doing this for decades to come!
